Why is Engineer's Day celebrated?

The origin and celebration of the Engineer's Day is due to Eugenio Méndez Docurro, who was the Secretary of Communications and Transportation during the government of Luis Echeverría Álvarez. He decided that this event would be celebrated on July 1 because on a day like this but in the year 1776 the Royal Decree was issued for the creation in our country of the Royal Mining Tribune. Here the first study plans and texts of the first engineering schools of the American continent were created.

However, the first association of engineers in the country did not begin to function formally until the year 1886, that is, a century later. In 1946 the College of Civil Engineers of Mexico was founded, with the intention of defending the interests of the union, as well as being its consultative body, being an interlocutor with the State and complying with the provisions of the so-called Professions Law.
